Vision My vision is to help students and scientists to publish their theses and manuscripts in high-impact journals.
Mission My mission is to provide biological and social science, students and scientists with an author’s editor and peer review service for manuscripts written in English. We provide comments in a confidential, friendly and constructive manner.
Description of service
My first aim is to ensure good grammar, because good grammar is associated with good science, and vice versa.
My second aim is to make your writing more memorable. The reader will understand and remember your work when written with clarity and grace.
All my work is done on Microsoft Word with track changes. I use additional, world-class, grammar checking software to correct the grammar and check your references in the Harvard or APA 6th edition style.
I have developed my propriety software, to improve your text for clarity and grace based on the classic book by William Strunk Jr., "The Elements of Style." This is done by rewording into the active voice where possible, removing jargon and meaningless words, improving parallelism, etc. Each sentence is rephrased, where necessary, to put the important facts, in the stress part of the sentence. I have found that these 20 rules, correct 80% of the mistakes authors make.
In addition to the above-mentioned issues of grammar, clarity and grace, I also edit for consistency, sequential numbering of figures and tables, check for the presence of each figure and table. I check that each citation in the text is in the list of references, and that each reference in the list of references, is cited in the text. I check for the definition of each abbreviation, flag repeated definitions of each abbreviation and list abbreviations without definitions. I format headings, sub-headings, figure legends and table headings consistently. Your manuscript is checked for several more issues, to ensure a high technical standard.
My other favorite books are Matt Young's "The Technical Writer's Handbook - Writing with Style and Clarity" and Eric Lichtfouse's "Scientific writing for Impact Factor Journals". The principles described in these books apply to the sciences, humanities, engineering and medicine.
I will incorporate any additional formatting specification or template that you provide.
